Do you want to backup your WhatsApp chats to protect them from accidental deletion or device damage? In this guide, I will show you how you can backup WhatsApp chats with manual and Google Drive method for both Android and PC.

WhatsApp Backup Android
- Open your WhatsApp. Go to Settings > Chats.
- At the bottom, click on Chat Backup option.
- Then tap the Backup button to backup your messages. Don’t forget to add a Google account.

After that, your backup automatically starts saving your chat history. You can see your backup size and when you last backed up above the backup button as you see in the image.
How to change backup email on WhatsApp?
- Go to WhatsApp > Settings > Chats.
- At the bottom left, tap Chat Backup.
- Under the Manage Google Storage option, you can select or change the email.

Backup WhatsApp on computer
Backup options for WhatsApp on a computer are not included in the official WhatsApp. You can only back up your messages on mobile.

You cannot get a backup of WhatsApp directly on a PC or laptop, but you can share your backups across these devices. Here’s how you can do it.
- First, take a backup of WhatsApp on your mobile.
- Then, find the backup file and share it on your computer or laptop with email or Google Drive.
Restore WhatsApp backup from Google Drive
It is very easy to restore your chat history on WhatsApp from Google Drive. Just follow these steps.
- In Google Drive, make sure you’re using the same Google account you backed up to.
- Open your Google Drive app. Then tap on the 3 menu bar icon at the top left as you see in the given image.
- Then click on the backup option.
- In the Backup section, the backup will only appear if you have taken a backup. You can use WhatsApp backup when you get WhatsApp on another device or if you reinstall it on that device.
